 Everyone likes to be independent. Too often, however, older persons and those with disabilities are unable to handle the activities of daily living. Fortunately, Diakon Adult Day Services at Ravenwood—located at Ravenwood Lutheran Village in Hagerstown, Md.,—can help. Diakon Adult Day Services provides daytime assistance, allowing older persons or those with disabilities to remain with the general community. Allowing them to maintain as much independence as possible-with dignity. Day services offers an alternative to nursing care, at the same time providing a respite for those caring for someone at home. An experienced, professional staff assists participants with such daily activities as grooming and taking medicines. Various therapy and counseling services are available. The village chaplain regularly visits the center. Beyond transportation and nutritious meals, the program offers participants stimulating interaction with others who have similar interests and experiences. The center boasts a full roster of exciting events and activities, including crafts, games, shopping and recreational trips, and educational projects. Diakon Adult Day Services at Ravenwood accepts private-pay clients as well as those who receive Maryland medical assistance. In addition, grants may be available for those who are income-eligible. It all adds up to exceptional assistance-to assistance that can help many older persons continue to live independently. |
