Camp Evergreen

Dealing with a loved one’s death is difficult for everybody, but it can be especially troubling for children and adolescents. When faced with an untimely death of a loved one, young people often have a myriad of emotions that can be overwhelming and confusing.

To help during these often perplexing times, Diakon Hospice Saint John offers programs geared for children and adolescents involved in the grieving process.

Camp Evergreen

Diakon Hospice Saint John offers a specialized weekend camp that allows participants to express their feelings through activities, games, and crafts.

Information on the 2012 Camp Evergreen three-day, two-night camp can be found on the flyer below. An application for children who wish to participate also is available. Further, volunteers are always needed—an application for those who wish to volunteer also is posted below.

The camp includes fun activities, including games, discussions, and focused arts and crafts, that allow children to express feelings and concerns, identify supportive people, and find appropriate ways to use memories for healing and growth. The program uses its beautiful outdoor environment to enhance participants’ ability to heal from grief.
