We want you to take your pregnancy seriously and to plan for your child's future, should you decide
to parent the baby. We will therefore help to make sure you are ready to be a parent, meeting with
you regularly to assist with parenting skills and issues and to provide information on community
resources.
Should you decide on adoption, we will help with this process as well, focusing on you, the baby,
and the prospective parents. Knowing how difficult this time can be, our caring staff members will
meet with you throughout your pregnancy and then continue to offer support and guidance for at
least a year after the baby is born. We encourage the birth father to be involved in the process as
well. We can provide counseling and support to him and meet with him separately, if that is
necessary.
We will also provide free legal services, and you will be given referrals to services and people
who can assist you with concerns after the adoption, should such help be needed. As the birth
mother, you will be able to help in the process of selecting an adoptive family for your child and
can even meet with them if you would like. Experienced adoption specialists work with every couple
interested in adoption to make sure they will provide a loving and stable home for the child.
Couples who are approved for adoption must complete a series of educational sessions.
While the adoption is confidential, we also work to make many aspects of the process as open as
possible. Through us, you will receive updates and pictures of your child during the first six
months following adoption and then each year around the time of the child's birthday, if you
desire. You may also wish to write a letter to your child, including your photograph and
explaining your decision. Further contacts between you and the child may be arranged as he or she
grows older, depending on circumstances and agreement by everyone involved in the adoption.
