 Diakon ReadyRide transportation service offers urgent transportation assistance to Berks County persons ages 60 and older. Through this program, reached by calling toll-free 1-800-366-0929, rides can be promptly provided to those who have an unexpected, urgent need for transportation. Whether it be for urgent medical or dental appointments, hospital discharges, or shopping needs, Diakon ReadyRide transportation service may be able to help. Of course, service is based on the appropriateness of the request and volunteer availability. All Diakon ReadyRide drivers are specially trained volunteers, who provide not only a ride on short notice, but also companionship. Diakon ReadyRide is offered through the Berks County-based office of the Diakon Volunteer Home Care program. Calls for transportation assistance are accepted with advance notice ranging from four hours to four days. Calls should be directed to the program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. |
