Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries is dedicated to helping all veterans of the U.S.
Armed Forces and their spouses who may be eligible for benefits from the federal
Department of Veterans Affairs.
We know that trying to weave through a maze of forms and complicated language can
be confusing. In addition, benefits may have been added or amended since your original
submission for benefits.
Our Veterans Benefits Assistance can help
Our Veterans Assistance Specialist will meet with you privately to review your individual
situation to:
- Determine if you may be eligible for benefits
- Determine if you may be eligible to receive additional benefits
- File the necessary paperwork
- Obtain the proper records needed for submission
* Eligibility for most VA benefits is based on honorable discharge from active military
service.
There is no cost for this service
Our Veterans Assistance Specialist serves the residents and their spouses of all
Diakon senior living campuses, as well as other Diakon clients. The specialist will
review your current benefits status and discuss:
- Form DD214 - Report of Separation
- Compensation
- Non-service related pension or improved pension
- Widows DIC - Dependency Indemnity Compensation
- Widows pension
- Death benefits
- Medical benefits
- VA life insurance
There are some benefits available for veterans with non-service-related injuries
and illnesses in certain circumstances. Our specialist can help to determine your
possible status.
Learn if you are eligible
Veterans assisted by our program may receive up to $1,644 per month, while a widow
may qualify for up to $1,056 per month.
