With a goal of helping people to help themselves, Diakon Family Life Services - Capital Region offers
support groups programs. These programs are designed to bring together people in similar
situations to discuss common issues and, often, to provide helpful advice to one another. Among
current Diakon Family Life Services - Capital Region programs is:

This support group, contracted through Faye Hall and Jeff Merkert, focuses on "Re-Parenting 23/7 -
How to Be Therapeutic Between Therapy Sessions." Adoptive children may have experienced neglect,
trauma, or abuse in addition to the disruption involved in being separated from birth-parents.
As a result, the child may not be able to reciprocate love. Re-parenting reaches back into those
developmental stages and works to repair the damaged past.
