Memory-Supportive Services—Help is on the Horizon
At Manatawny Manor we know that growing old is a milestone many of us will
achieve. Unfortunately, some older persons are affected by cognitive
impairments such as Alzheimer's disease, conditions often requiring special
care.
At Manatawny Manor, we care for residents with memory-related illnesses
in two secure settings—The Horizons Community in our Assisted
Living Center and The Milestones Community in our Nursing Care Center. Both
communities encourage residents to lead enjoyable and productive lives
through structured activities designed to meet individual needs. Supervised
by its own coordinator, each community is consistently staffed.
The Horizons Assisted Living Community
For those residents who are still independent, yet need some assistance
with daily tasks, Manatawny Manor offers The Horizons Community, a
specially designed and secure unit in the Assisted Living Center.
Providing all the convenience of our Assisted Living Center including a
personal laundry room, The Horizons Community maintains a specialized
staff that develops daily routines and weekly themes designed to maintain
memory function.
Each resident room has a "memory box" on the wall outside its
entrance. Families are encouraged to place items familiar to the resident
to enhance recollections and infuse feelings of home. Residents enjoy a
multi-purpose room, which serves as a dining area, activity room, and a
relaxation room. French doors lead to a secure outdoor patio, where
residents may enjoy Manatawny Manor's beautiful surroundings.
The Milestones Community
The Milestones Community enjoys many of the services and amenities that
the Nursing Care Center offers. As a secured unit, the staff offers
consistent programming geared to helping residents achieve an optimum
level of independence. Residents have a dining area, activity area and
a secured outdoor courtyard in which they can enjoy the spring sun or the
fall leaves. Milestones' residents benefit from a number of activities and
community amenities, which make their days satisfying.
