Diakon Lutheran Senior Services: The Ravenwood & Robinwood Campuses
Rehabilitation at Diakon Rehabilitation at Diakon

Expert care and personal motivation

Diakon health-care professionals are experienced in effectively treating a variety of conditions, including orthopedic injuries, strokes, heart disease, and respiratory illnesses. We can help you to recover after a hospital stay or build your strength before a planned hospitalization to facilitate a more effective recovery.

Using a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach that may involve consultation with physicians, nurses, and social workers, our physical, occupational, and speech therapists develop a comprehensive therapy plan tailored to meet your specific needs. And our team approach also involves you and your family. With personal attention, patience, and continuing encouragement, our staff members provide invaluable support, helping you to overcome challenges and achieve your rehabilitation goals.

Comfort and security

Every Diakon senior living community offers spacious private and semi-private rooms. Fully furnished and tastefully decorated, they feature accessible bathrooms, convenient handrails, individual heating and air conditioning and emergency-call systems. Nutritious and appetizing meals are served in the communities’ dining rooms.

State-of-the-Art Technology

Rehabilitation has taken on a new look and feel with the latest advances in technology. While traditional therapy remains the mainstay of our services, a range of technology-based therapies enhance treatment for many clients while also adding an element of fun.

  • “Wiihab” is an interactive video game that combines balance, strength, endurance, reaction time, and hand-eye coordination with purposeful activity. Through the creative use of technology, we can help clients to achieve specific rehabilitation goals.
  • Dakim is abrain-fitness system thatenhances memory through activities that involve recall, computation, critical thinking, and daily life skills. The Dakim Brain Fitness system adjusts for each user’s skill level, updates exercises and activities daily, and boosts self-confidence for those who use it.
  • Diakon Rehabilitation Services partners with Accelerated Care Plus to provide state-of-the-art therapeutic processes, evidence-based practice, education, and on-site training. ACP provides equipment, training, and clinical support for our therapists, who have strong clinical competence in providing such approaches as ultrasound, electrotherapy, short wave diathermy and infrared therapy.

These therapeutic approaches have been used successfully in a variety of settings, including long-term care, orthopedic rehabilitation, outpatient facilities, and elite athletic programs, and can enhance your rehabilitation efforts. Specialized treatment programs include contracture and pain management, wound healing, falls prevention, neuromuscular stimulation, and continence improvement.
  • VitalStim is a non-invasive, external electrical-stimulation therapy used in the treatment of clients who have difficulty swallowing, or dysphagia. Our therapists apply VitalStim therapy when working with clients on other swallowing-related exercises.
