Enhancing the Living Part of Senior Living
Having served older adults with gracious hospitality and care since the 1940s, Diakon today operates more than a dozen senior living and housing communities in Pennsylvania and Maryland, with services ranging from senior living accommodations to personal care services and nursing and rehabilitative care. Focused on providing state-of-the-art services, Diakon emphasizes wellness, exciting amenities, the use of new technologies, and a range of stimulating creative arts and events. In addition, the organization offers a variety of home and community-based services, including adult day care and home health and hospice services.
150 Years of Caring and Concern
Diakon services for children, youths and families continue a nearly 150-year heritage of care that began with the organization’s creation of homes for children in the mid- and late 1800s. Offered in varying regions, these programs aid people in nearly all of life's circumstances. From the waiting child who longs for the loving embrace of an adoptive family to the troubled teen crying out for steadfast guidance to put life back on the right track… from the family in crisis for whom counseling offers a path to stability to the young woman contemplating next steps in an unplanned pregnancy… Diakon programs help to bring hope, hospitality, and healing to those in need.
While many Diakon services benefit congregations and their members, some programs are specifically designed to aid congregations or other aspects of the Lutheran Church and other denominations.
In addition to the corporate partnerships established through Diakon Kathryn’s Kloset, Diakon offers services designed to support businesses and other organizations in their interaction with and support of employees.
Diakon operates several programs that aid people in unique ways and special circumstances including a program that stores corporate donations of personal-care and similar products and makes them available free of charge to non-profit organizations that serve those most in need.
