Those with Alzheimer’s disease and similar illnesses are in good hands within the The Timothy M. Breidegam Center at The Lutheran Home at Topton.

The Breidegam personal care center feels like home, and is thoughtfully designed for the unique needs of residents with Alzheimers disease and related illnesses. The physical design of the center promotes safety without hindering independence, and includes secure indoor and outdoor activity areas. Dedicated professionals with training and experience in caring for those who need memory support provide specialized support and therapeutic activities that focus on stimulating memories, fostering self-esteem, and helping residents to maintain abilities and independence.

Helping hearts

The Breidegam Center is ideal for those who need assistance with daily activities of living, such as dressing, bathing, diet, assistance with medications, and memory- and activity-related cues from a caring, experienced staff. A therapeutic activity program is provided seven days a week, helping to engage Breidegam residents in the life of the community.

Our spacious semi-private rooms, each with a bathroom, provide plenty of space to call home. We encourage decorating with personal furniture and items. Comfortable sofas on “indoor proches” invite residents to relax and talk with neighbors, while an activity room and enclosed courtyard offer plenty of opportunities to be involved in campus life. Three meals per day are served in a bright, welcoming dining room.

Each resident room is equipped with a 24-hour call system, with on-site staff available round the clock. The adjacent Henry Health Care Center provides the security and convenience of health care services right on campus, including doctors’ offices, a pharmacy, a comprehensive rehabilitation therapy department, and memory-supportive services.

In addition, numerous health-related personnel and services are offered on site, including geriatric-certified physicians, dentist, podiatrist, audiologist, opthalmologist, optometrist, and consulting dietitian.
