Diakon Volunteer Home Care provides non-medical assistance
through caring teams of volunteers from local communities and congregations.
Volunteers are trained and supported by program staff, but the volunteers’
special touch is the reason this outreach ministry is so successful.
Diakon Volunteer Home Care services include companionship, letter writing,
telephone reassurance, errands, transportation, light household and
outside chores, assistance with financial forms, meal preparation,
and minor repairs. In addition, Diakon offers a corollary service
within this Diakon Volunteer Home Care region: Diakon ReadyRide
Transportation Services and Diakon SnowStoppers.
Diakon Volunteer Home Care teams provide service on a short-term or intermittent
basis and work in complement with other human services and assistance
provided by family members or friends. Because services are offered
at no cost to the individual, Diakon Volunteer Home Care relies on the generosity
of donors to make its ministry possible.
