Schuylkill & Northern Dauphin Counties
Diakon Volunteer Home Care provides non-medical assistance through caring volunteers from local communities and congregations. Volunteers are trained and supported by program staff, but the volunteers’ special touch is the reason this outreach ministry is so successful.
Diakon Volunteer Home Care services include companionship, transportation to medical appointments, assistance with acquiring good and groceries, and referrals to additional local service-providers.
Diakon Volunteer Home Care provides service on a short-term or intermittent basis and works in complement with other human services and assistance provided by family members or friends. Because services are offered at no cost to the individual, Diakon Volunteer Home Care relies on the generosity of donors to make its ministry possible.
The Pottsville office serves all of Schuylkill and Carbon counties, northern Dauphin County, and the Hazleton region. The program is funded, in part, by the United Way of Carbon County, the Foundation for Enhancing Communities, and donations from partner churches and individuals.

The Berks program is funded, in part, under a contract with money allocated by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and the Berks County Commissioners through the Berks County Office of Aging. In addition, the program relies on the generous support of partner churches and individuals.
