Wilderness Challenge Program
The Diakon Wilderness Center’s 30-Day Wilderness Challenge Program offers the elements necessary to capture the attention of
youths who need to stabilize their behavior or regain focus before more intensive services are needed.
Far from televisions, cell phones, and the Internet, this adventure-based, short-term intervention delivers an experience participants
will long remember and draw from.
The Wilderness Challenge Program operates year-round, requiring youths to live outdoors and successfully complete challenging physical
and emotional activities in Mother Nature’s classroom. Working with specially trained staff for their entire experience, up to 10 youths
in each group share responsibilities, learn problem-solving and communication skills, and overcome fears as they create a foundation
for their successful return to home and community.
