Outdoor Adventure Challenge
Thank you to everyone who helped to make the Second Annual Outdoor Adventure Challenge a success! Mark your calendar now for the 2014 race on Sept. 20.
The Outdoor Adventure Challenge is a competitive 5K trail run that includes use of the Diakon Wilderness Center's high ropes course, Alpine Tower and zip-line. The event also incorporates a “fun-run” for participants who prefer to run or walk the course in a less competitive atmosphere. All participants enjoy lunch and an awards ceremony around noon.
As one past participant said in describing the Outdoor Adventure Challenge: "The Diakon Outdoor Adventure Challenge totally exceeded my expectations! The course was challenging, the surroundings were beautiful, and the lunch was much better than your typical post-race spread. But the best part was definitely challenging myself on the Alpine tower and flying down the zip-line.”
The 2013 event had 151 participants and raised more than $16,000 for programs at the Diakon Wilderness Center serving at-risk teens and young adults.
Special congratulations to the following 2013 Outdoor Adventure Challenge winners:
1. Justin Hochstetler, 2. Joe Hochstetler, 3. Michael Blumenthal
1. Maggie Wonsick, 2. Tammy Messner, 3. Karen Tryulski
Thank you for making a difference in the lives of youths!
