Help is on the ‘Horizon’
At Manatawny Manor we know that growing older is a milestone many of us will
achieve. Unfortunately, some older persons are affected by memory-related conductions such as Alzheimer’s disease, conditions that sometimes require special
care.
At Manatawny Manor, we care for residents with memory-related illnesses
in two secure settings:
- The Horizons Community in our personal care center
- The Milestones Community in our nursing care center
While offering general personal care or nursing care services, both
communities also are designed to encourage residents to lead enjoyable and productive lives
through structured activities that meet individual needs. Supervised
by its own coordinator, each community is consistently staffed by the same employees, of significant benefit to those with memory-related illnesses..
Horizons personal care
For those residents who are still independent yet need some assistance
with daily tasks, Manatawny Manor offers The Horizons Community, a
specially designed and secure section of our personal care center. Offering all the services and conveniences of our personal care center including a
personal laundry room, The Horizons Community maintains a specialized
staff that develops daily routines and weekly themes designed to maintain
memory skills and abilities.
Each resident room has a “memory box” on the wall outside its
entrance. Families are encouraged to place items familiar to the resident
to enhance recollection and infuse feelings of home. Residents enjoy a
multi-purpose room, which serves as a dining area, activity room, and a
relaxation room. French doors lead to a secure outdoor patio, where
residents may enjoy Manatawny Manor’s beautiful surroundings.
Milestones nursing care
The Milestones Community provides services and amenities similar to those offered by our nursing care center. As a secure unit, however, the Milestones Community features consistent staffing by the same employees, who offer programming geared to help residents achieve an optimum
level of independence. Residents have their own dining and activities areas, with a secure outdoor courtyard in which to enjoy the spring sun or the
fall leaves. Residents benefit from a number of specialized activities and
community amenities, which help to make their days satisfying.
Specialized services in both communities:
- Secure unit for residents’ safety
- Specially designed structured activities for residents with memory-related illnesses
- Comfortable homelike setting
- Alzheimer’s support group
