Changes come in a unique, supportive environment

Since the 1980s, the Diakon Wilderness Center has been a leader in providing specialized, outdoor-based services for children and youths from across Pennsylvania.

Historically serving young people who have been adjudicated delinquent or dependent by county juvenile courts or children and youth services, the center and its related programs offer a wide range of services designed to help young people become productive, contributing members of society, including those referred privately. Located on 170 mountainous acres near Boiling Springs, Pa., the center provides month-long wilderness challenge-based experiences, a weekend program designed to help young people avoid the temptations of their home environment Friday through Sunday, and an alternative-education day treatment program.

In addition, the center hosts the Flight Program, a unique mentoring and service initiative in which former students of the center and other young people who have aged out of other youth services voluntarily participate to enhance their opportunities for achieving responsibility and success.

The Diakon Wilderness Center is part of Diakon Youth Services, which offers a range of specialized weekday services for youths in southeastern Pennsylvania, some in partnership with wilderness center-based programs. We invite you to learn more about how we’re making a real difference in the lives of at-risk youths.
