Diakon Adult Day Services at Ravenwood receives state transportation grant

Hagerstown, Md. (Friday July 10, 2015)

The Maryland Transit Authority has awarded Diakon Adult Day Services at Ravenwood a grant to purchase a new bus and $3,000 for preventive maintenance for the new vehicle over two years.

According to Anne Dottavio, administrator for Diakon Adult day Services, the state authority will purchase the bus with a 20% match from Diakon.

"The value of the bus is estimated to be $57,162, so the estimated gift-in-kind amount is $47,729, with Diakon's estimated match to be $11,432. The bus will be available in spring of next year," says Tammy McCrae, a Diakon grants and research staff member.

The $3,000 in preventive maintenance will be reimbursable with a 20% Diakon match, or $600.

"We are appreciative of the state grant," says Dottavio, "which will be a significant enhancement for our transportation service for adult day care clients."
